Christmas Background Imovie

paper material - Castle Ludwigslust

Red Animal, Heike Roesner (2010)
paper as a material for sculpture repeatedly evokes skepticism. More often I hear from the galleries or by customers - and if they see or touch my things, they are surprised at how robust and stable, the objects are. Paper's not just a light fluttering medium. In connection with, for example, paste the paper stabilized so that in earlier times quite as a substitute for masonry was used or the like. A great example of the castle Ludwigslust is in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Apart from the fact that the castle and the park are simply fascinating, is actually much mâché castle: chandeliers, balconies, balustrades, pillars - like all the gold, but underneath just paper! A sculpture of the "Venus" is also completely made of paper.

And to think now that this castle was built 1754th I will not know what better proof is there really be for the strength of paper art - and that the entire history of paper mache was still completely intact. Why so quiet courage with the paper. The time of this material has just the right begonnen.Und will be heard in the future certainly much of it. In the meantime, you can even pay my schonmal beautiful sculptures and be glad. The theme of joy, we had already. And I can only say again today: I am looking!

(By the way.. My works are not paper mache work I work in the lamination, the difference is that processed in paper mache pieces of paper into a kind of porridge, with which then the form is produced in the laminating thin strips of paper are cross. and across each bonded to a carrier which is then removed after either, so that a thin paper sleeve remains. Or - as in my case - the paper layer by layer on a wire framework are "laminated")
